Celebrate the roots, richness and variety of American culture at the Leeds Downtown Folk Festival and John Henry Celebration Sept. 18-19., 2010. This fun-filled, family-friendly festival will feature fine artists and folk artisans showing and selling original works of art and demonstrating their work, a variety of musical performances, a storyteller, children’s arts and crafts activities, and regional and ethnic food. Special events at this third annual festival will include “Listen to that Cold Steel Ring,” a locally written and produced play about John Henry -- “the steel-driving man,” tours of antique railroad exhibits at Leeds Historic Depot, and an antique car show. Leeds is located just 15 minutes from downtown Birmingham. Admission and parking are free.
